Annotation

“90th Birthday Retrospective” is a hand-signed portrait lithographic poster of Erte,  The Father of Art Deco. There were 90 printed and gifted to attendees at the private Dyansen Gallery (SoHo) retrospective honoring Erte. The image was photographed by the American photographer and lecturer Robert Farber who is known for his fashion, landscape, and still life photography.

Condition: The hand-signed (in ink) retrospective poster has been in our flat files since the party. The unframed artwork is in very good condition.

About the party: The opening night retrospective featured the portrait of Erte photographed by Robert Farber. The party was hosted by Diana Vreeland and presented at the Dyansen Gallery in Soho, NYC.  My father was the owner of the Dyansen Gallery. I was an entry-level gallery employee at Dyansen Gallery. I was responsible for the gallery’s presentation for the evening’s event.  According to artprice.com auction records for Erte hand-signed posters have sold for as much as $1,300.00 US. This poster is rare and very collectible. I hope it finds a very good home.   Below is the link from the New York Times regarding the party.    http://www.nytimes.com/1982/11/11/garden/erte-at-90-is-cause-for-celebration.html
